The Carmen Tagum Foursquare Gospel Church has been flooded again. This church is located near the beach front and is actually below sea level. This means during the seasonal rainy period the entire neighborhood is routinely flooded and can take as much as a week to drain away as long as there is no further rain. Residents in the area have to wade through stagnant and polluted water to move around. This is not a healthy living environment for them due to their water wells being flooded with the same water that is flooding the household toilets. This means no potable water for up to two weeks after the water has drained. The only source of water is bottled water from the stores that not everyone can afford. These residents are also at risk of contracting water-borne diseases such as cholera.
The photos show that the stage of the church has been left dry because of its elevation. If the remaining floor of the church was elevated to the same level of the stage, this would protect the church against further flooding when the neighborhood routinely floods.
We would like to raise funds to buy enough gravel and cement to fill-in the floor of the church and raise it to the level of the stage. Will you help us achieve this??
By doing this we can prevent further flooding and the church’s ministry can remain functional throughout the year. At the moment it is regularly put out of action and services have to be suspended until the water drains. The church is also used as a kindergarten for preschoolers during the week which is also affected from the floods.
Please help us to keep this church from flooding again and allow it to continue in God’s ministry to the local community.
